E’ un itinerario che attraversa antiche foreste di faggio e ambienti modellati dal tempo. Lungo il percorso scorci panoramici permettono ammirare le principali vette del Parco e il Lago Vivo, che deve il suo nome proprio al mutare costante del livello dell'acqua a seconda delle stagioni. Qui, tracce di vecchi mestieri legati alla montagna, rivelano come natura e cultura siano sempre state strettamente legate.

Durante il percorso, che attraversa luoghi storici legati all'attività contadina di un tempo, sarà possibile incontrare Matusalemme, l’antico faggio che da secoli rappresenta un punto di riferimento. Camminando sempre più in alto, gli occhi potranno ammirare i principali rilievi del Parco, offrendo spettacoli di grande bellezza.

A panoramic hike that reaches an altitude of 1823 meters. During the walk, which passes through historical places linked to the peasant activity of the past, it will be possible to meet Matusalemme, the ancient beech tree which has represented a landmark for centuries. Oltre il limite delle foreste si apre un ambiente sconfinato, sono i grandi spazi degli altopiani di alta quota, i pascoli estivi al tempo della transumanza. Qui si trova l'imponente massiccio del Monte Greco (2285 mt), al limite del Parco Nazionale, in zona di protezione esterna. Raggiungere la vetta è impegnativo ma le magnifiche viste panoramiche che si possono godere sono veramente gratificanti e lasciano senza fiato.

Il Lago di Barrea è ricavato dallo sbarramento artificiale del Fiume Sangro e fu realizzato all'inizio degli anni '50 senza danneggiare la valle, grazie anche agli innovativi ingegneri italiani. È stato riconosciuto zona umida di importanza internazionale e l'accordo la crescita della vegetazione acquatica. Intorno al lago alcune facili camminate permettono di scoprirne le bellezze.

The Lake of Barrea is created from the artificial dam on the Sangro River and was built in the early 1950s without damaging the valley, thanks also to innovative Italian engineers. It has been recognized as a wetland of international importance and the agreement between P.N.A.L.M and ENEL promotes the growth of aquatic vegetation. Around the lake some easy walks allow you to discover its beauties.

La Valle Jannanghera è un luogo di grande importanza storica e naturalistica. Diversi sentieri, dai percorsi poco impegnativi a quelli che portano fino al rifugio di Forca Resuni a oltre 1950 metri, permettono di scoprirne le unicità. Un luogo caratterizzato da fitte foreste, sorgenti e corsi d'acqua, antichi ricoveri di pastori e di contadini. E infine le vette più alte e più belle del Parco che offrono panorami mozzafiato.

The Jannanghera Valley is a place of great historical and naturalistic importance. Various hikes, from the easy ones to those for Forca Resuni, at over 1950 meters, allow you to discover its uniqueness. A place characterized by large forests, springs and small rivers, ancient shelters of shepherds and farmers. And finally the highest and most beautiful peaks of the Park which offer breathtaking views.

È un luogo dedicato allo studio e alla conoscenza dei pipistrelli. Attraverso pannelli didattici e proiezioni di video documentaristici sarà possibile conoscere questo mammifero. Inoltre uno schermo, collegato a videocamere posizionate all'interno di un edificio storico abbandonato di Barrea, trasmette in diretta la vita dell'importante colonia di pipistrelli (Rhinolophus ferrumequinum) intenta nelle attività quotidiane.

It is a place dedicated to the study and knowledge of bats. Through educational panels and documentary video screenings it will be possible to learn about this mammal. Furthermore, a screen, connectea to some video cameras positioned inside an abandoned building in Barrea, broadcasts live the life of the important colony of bats (Rhinolophus ferrumequinum) engaged in daily activities.

È un'esposizione permanente che raccoglie i corredi funerari, ritrovati vicino al Lago di Barrea, appartenenti alla civiltà Safina, un antico popolo pre-italico di origine indoeuropea che ha cominciato a colonizzare la valle intorno al VII sec. a.c. Tra i numerosi tumuli trovati nelle necropoli, una tomba conteneva i resti di un uomo imponente, un capo clan, il cosiddetto Guerriero di Barrea.

It is a permanent exhibition that collects the funerary objects, found near the Lake of Barrea, belonging to the Safini civilization, an ancient pre-Italic people of Indo-European origin who began to colonize the valley around the 7th century B.C. Among the several tumulus founded in the necropolis, one tomb contained the remains of an imposing man, a clan leader, the so-called Warrior of Barrea.

Il Castello di Barrea, è un bastione difensivo, con la precisa funzione di presidiare il sottostante borgo abitato, rendendolo praticamente inespugnabile. Questo monumento può raccontare secoli e secoli di storia con i suoi eventi, protagonisti, e suggestioni. Insieme alle sue due torri, quella quadrata dell'XI sec. e quella rotonda del 1500, è un belvedere unico. Da un lato l'incantevole paesaggio della valle e, dall'altro, il profondo canyon.

The Castle of Barrea is a defensive bastion, with the precise function of guarding the inhabited village below, making it practically impregnable. This monument can tell centuries of history with its events, protagonists, and suggestions. With its two towers, the square one from the lith century and the rounded one from the 15th century it is a unique viewpoint. On one side the enchanting landscape of the valley and, on the other, the deep canyon.

Un tour dentro Barrea offre ai visitatori l'opportunità di conoscere il suo patrimonio culturale. Dall'ingresso del Centro Storico si cammina tra palazzi signorili del XVIII*, XIX° e XX° secolo con la tipica struttura urbanistica fino a raggiungere il borgo medievale Attraverso i due principali ingressi, la "Porta di Sopra" e la "Porta di Sotto", entrerai in un labirinto di vicoli, piazzette, e scorci panoramici. Sarà un viaggio che ti porterà indietro nel tempo.

A tour in Barrea offers visitors the opportunity to learn about its cultural heritage. Starting from the Historic Center you walk among stately buildings of the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries with the typical urban structure, until you reach the medieval village. Through the two main entrances, "Porta di Sopra" and "Porta di Sotto", you will enter in a labyrinth of alleys, small squares, and panoramic views. It will be a journey that will take you back in time.
